Woodwork Projects

The following are examples of current projects for years 7-10. However, there is no limit to design.

Year 7 Design and Technology

Year 7 have roughly 10 weeks to design and create a dragster car along with display stand and supporting portfolio. Their cars are then exhibited and raced at the end.

Year 8 Design and Technology

Year 8 develop their skills in machines such as the lathe and are introduced to new materials such as perspex and metal in such projects as bowls, kitchen stands and etched pendants.

Year 9 and 10 Wood Construction 1 & 2

Year 9 and 10 create a range of household projects with an emphasis on joint, fixing and general construction techniques. They build such projects as footstools/chair, charging stations and general storage solutions.

Year 9 and 10 Furniture Construction 1 & 2

Students in the Furniture units focus on two elements of furniture design, the first is with traditional furniture construction techniques with solid timber. The second element is mass production with plywood and its differing techniques such as lamination and forming. Students build projects such as a solid timber coffee table, laminated wood bowl, formed footstool and 1 piece plywood chair.
